Rethinking water: a real-world laboratory for future technologies
With its complex infrastructure, diverse research landscape and decades of experience in transformation, the Ruhr region ideally serves as a model region for innovative water management. A Water Hub, launched by RAG-Stiftung in collaboration with the BRYCK Innovation and Start-up Centre and other corporate partners, is dedicated to developing relevant future technologies with market potential. Here, urgently needed forward-looking ideas relating to water are translated into marketable applications. For example, RAG Aktiengesellschaft is working with a start-up to test a novel method for maintaining kilometres of pipelines. The programme includes pioneering solutions for sampling and water analysis and improved tools for predicting extreme weather events.
The BRYCK WaterHub combines RAG’s long-standing experience and infrastructure in mine water management with BRYCK’s start-up expertise. This fosters an ecosystem in which new technologies and scalable business models emerge. In this real-world laboratory, start-ups benefit from close collaboration with industrial partners, challenging use cases and access to attractive markets.
Reason for planting
In light of water scarcity, pollutant emissions and climate-related extreme events such as droughts and floods, there is a high global demand for forward-looking solutions in water management. This hybrid elm is dedicated to the new collaboration between BRYCK and RAG Aktiengesellschaft, which aims to provide answers to these very challenges.
