Being introduced in July 2007, the Board of Executives is the administrative body of the RAG Foundation. All members of the Board of Executives also belong to the Supervisory Board of the RAG Corporation.

The key tasks of the Board of Executives according to the statutes:

• Accumulating, administrating and utilising the Foundation’s assets to finance the long-term liabilities of the German coal-mining industry,
• Ceasing German coal-mining by 2018 in a socially acceptable manner,
• Introducing Evonik Industries AG to the capital market.
