Helmut Linssen resigns as Chief Financial Officer of the RAG-Stiftung

Essen/Berlin, 3 December 2018. At today’s regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the RAG-Stiftung, Dr. Helmut Linssen announced that he was resigning from his position as the RAG-Stiftung’s Chief Financial Officer as of 1 April 2019.

Dr. Linssen joined the RAG-Stiftung in December 2012. In the past six years he has played a major role in the foundation’s accumulation of assets in order to fulfil its primary goal of financing the inherited liabilities with unlimited duration starting in 2019. He has done significant development work, which will bear fruit after hard coal mining is discontinued in Germany at the end of 2018. As a result, he can look back at his very successful work and a successful term of office. In his capacity as the Chief Financial Officer of the RAG-Stiftung, Dr. Linssen made good use of his many years of experience as the Minister of Finance of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Among other things, he adapted the foundation’s capital investment strategy to the changing and challenging conditions of the capital market. This strategy included a stronger focusing on investments in real estate and private equity. Dr. Linssen is resigning from his post for reasons of age. The Board of Trustees expressly thanked him for his many years of development work. The Board of Trustees will decide on Dr. Linssen’s successor at its next meeting, which will be held on 1 April 2019.
